{birthdays | mickey's clubhouse birthday | brea}

It's a Mickey's Clubhouse birthday party!! Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog!! It's such a joy to see our friends and their growing families and especially when we get to create a sweet party for their little ones. I got the special treat this past summer to design some party details for little Charlotte Belle's 2nd birthday party. We wanted to focus on the fun and bright dessert display to showcase Charlie's birthday cake that was made with lots of love by one of her aunties who owns Cafe 86 (which if you have not visited one of their 2 cafes, you NEED to go soon!!) . The dessert table was inspired by Mickey's Clubhouse landscape that you see during their opening credits. Her spread was full of sweet treats from macarons, mini bundt cakes, dessert shooters and 2 birthday cakes. One of my favorite details of Charlie's party is her laser cut name done by one of our favorite people, Tammy from Letters To You. Enjoy some of the photos we were able to capture of Charlie's birthday celebration.

{birthdays | confetti themed birthday for olivia's 2nd | rowland heights}

This summer Olivia turned two. Olivia is such a bright little one that just lights up our lives everyday. She is so fun, brave, spunky at times, adorable and playful. Her smile just melts my heart and her mood is infectious. Snuggling with her in her bed and playing in her kitchen are just some of my favorite things I love doing with her but most of all, I love watching her talk about pirates, Legos and sharks with her Ninong Ed. Coming from a family where I love yous where not thrown around very frequently, I make sure to tell her every time I see her that I love her. Hearing her say "love you too or I love you" just makes my grateful heart smile.

Back to her birthday party, we decided to celebrate Olivia's 2nd at Chubby Cheek Café in Rowland Heights. Chubby Cheek is a modern café & playground that is a perfect venue for parties like such since they have an indoor play area for the little ones and yummy food for everyone to enjoy.

Some of our favorites from Olivia's confetti inspired celebration include:

- the colorful and scrumptious dessert table that included her birthday cake and cupcakes from Cakes by Tricia Faye, mini bundt cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes, mini donuts from Krispy Kreme and French macarons from PM Macarons.
- the cupcake liner garlands that has over 500 cupcake liners
- the awesome jovial chalkboard signages from Yellow & Lace
- Olivia's initial in marquee letters

{our quick guide to wedding registry}

Creating your wedding registry is easily considered as one of the most enjoyed activities in your wedding planning. It’s the chance to be able to create the ultimate wish list for your new life at your new home together. The whole registry process should be fun but at times can lead to an overwhelmed bride and groom trying to decide how many of everything they should get. We’ve provided below some helpful tips that we share with all of our couples to help them in their wedding registry process.

Take Stock
Make a list of what both of you have and will keep -- and what you still need and want. Consider the need for “everyday" and “formal" versions of dinnerware, glassware, table linens, and serving items. Important: Discuss what level of formality you want and general color schemes or patterns before you begin.

Be True to Yourself
Don't be a slave to traditional registry lists. If you never cook at home but love to camp, it makes more sense to register for a tent than to request crystal goblets. But be open to the fact that your tastes may change in the future. Even though you can't imagine the need at this moment in your life for that glass trifle bowl, it may become indispensable for future dinner party desserts.

Choose more than one spot
One is not enough; 10 is too many. Two to four registries give guests more choices, and it's a manageable number. To make it easy on yourself and others, pick one store for bedding, another for china, and so on. This will prevent you from signing up for the same items at different stores.

Do It Together
The two of you should be registering for gifts you'll both enjoy. To decide on what you need, talk about the style of home you'd both like, and divide and conquer categories (maybe he gets to choose electronics, while she gets to choose the bedding). And don't let Mom drag you around -- in this case, she may not know best.

Know Your Guests
Be sure to register for items in a range of prices so that people can choose gifts within their means. Provide a mix of goods: Think traditional for older relatives, affordable and fun for college pals. It may sound a bit manipulative, but you've got to make your registry choices appealing -- and easy for your guests to buy.
Ship Smart
Ask the store if it will ship to any address you designate. That spares guests the hassle of having to go to a store to pick up your gift and then to the post office to send it.

Let Your Guests Know
Unfortunately, it's not appropriate for the bride or groom to ask for wedding gifts, so you have to be careful with how you let people know where you're registered. Never include registry information with your wedding invitations -- word of mouth is the appropriate way to disseminate this. Your registry info can, however, be listed on your bridal shower invites since the invitation does not come from you, but from the person hosting the shower. You can also include such details on a wedding web page.

Cash Out
You can't ask for specific gifts from your guests, monetary or otherwise. If guests are curious, they'll ask someone close to you what you want and the word will spread that you prefer cash gifts. When writing thank-you notes, do let the giver know how you intend to spend the money.

Be Grateful
Thank-you notes for gifts received before the wedding should be sent within two weeks of arrival. Notes for gifts received on or after the wedding day should be sent within a month of your return from the honeymoon.

{jan + john paul | married | santa ana}

We met Jan & John Paul or JP late 2015 through a recommendation from one of our previous weddings. I just want to say how much I LOVE that!! In this business especially when there's more than a handful of wedding/event planners to choose from, word of mouth is KEY. I love when my couples and their guests share my information to other couples who need our help. As I got to know more about Jan & JP's wedding plans, I find out that they also hired some of my favorite wedding vendors like AMT Productions and DJ Eric & MC Jay. We've recently had the great opportunity to work with both teams during Shanelle & Daniel's wedding at The Richard Nixon Library last July 2014.

Jan & JP have been a couple for quite some time before they became Mr. & Mrs. last January. They're very kind-hearted and easy going couple that just wanted a fun party where all of their family and friends can eat, drink and be merry. They started their day at San Lorenzo Catholic Church in Walnut and continued their party at the Casa Bella Event Center in Anaheim.

During the planning process, Jan shared with us how she was really inspired by The Great Gatsby so she wanted  some elements of their wedding inspired by that era. With that said, you can catch a lot of that inspiration in the bridal attire for the bride and her bridesmaids. Speaking of our bride's attire, we especially admired her 5 inch red Badgley Mischka Keira bridal shoes that provided that pop with her wedding gown.  Our awesome and very talented in-house graphic design consultant did some awesome designs including the welcome sign, bar signage and the social media signage for this wedding with that inspiration in mind.

To Jan & JP, thank you for the blessing to be able to spend this day with you and your family and friends. Our wish for you both is that may the love you share on your wedding day grow stronger as you grow old together. xoxo

AMT Productions, as always delivered an amazing job with their same day edit. Catch Jan & JP's SDE here.
